thegioididong (Mobile World), which belongs to the Mobile World Investment Corporation, has announced its electronics supermarket numbers around the country have passed the 400 mark. As at June 1 the number stood at 414, including stores in out-of-the-way places like Phu Quoc Island, which opened on February 6, and Sapa, which opened on April 17.
The two largest cities in the north, Hanoi and Hai Phong, have 55 stores between them while other northern provinces have 74 in total. The central region has 63 while Ho Chi Minh City has 79. Since the beginning of the year Mobile World has opened 78 new stores and its expansion plans will continue apace.
It will also work towards improving its service quality, offer simplified payments online, provide installment payment plans, and improve staff skills, while also focusing on after-sales services.
Each store earns revenue of VND4 billion ($187,000) per month on average. In the first four months of the year MWG recorded VND304 billion ($14.2 million) in profit, reaching 34 per cent of the annual plan.
The Mobile World Investment Corporation operates in two distribution formats: “thegioididong”, or Mobile World, and “dienmay”, or Consumer Electronics. Over recent years it has continually growing despite the unfavorable economic conditions.
