Three local networks in ASEAN Top 20 brands

Brand Finance rankings put Viettel, MobiFone and Vinaphone among Top 20 most valuable telecom brands in ASEAN.

Viettel, MobiFone, and Vinaphone were named as being among the Top 20 Most Valuable ASEAN Telecom Brands 2016 by Brand Finance on April 12.

Viettel was ranked seventh, increasing ten places compared to 2015, with a brand value of an estimated $973 million.

MobiFone was ranked 15th, rising four places with a brand value estimated at $539 million, while Vinaphone ranked 20th, one place higher than last year and with a brand value of $282 million.

Viettel and MobiFone were also in the Top 5 enterprises judged to work most effectively.

The improvement in the value of domestic brands is said to be the best preparation for global competition.

Telkom Indonesia led the Brand Finance rankings with a value of $2.6 billion, followed by Singtel from Singapore and PLDT from the Philippines.

In the Brand Finance Telecoms 500 Index, which ranked the most 500 valuable brands globally as at June 2015, Viettel ranked 128th, MobiFone 169th and Vinaphone 200th.

Both Viettel and Vinaphone slipped down the rankings, while MobiFone rose from 206th in 2014 to 169th in 2015.

The strength of a brand’s value is based on analysis of its investment in marketing and its commercial advantages such as goodwill from customers and shareholders.
