Motor car sales of Toyota Motor Vietnam up handsomely against March last year and February.
Vehicle sales by Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) in March totaled 4,693 units, an increase of 25 per cent (951 units) compared to March 2015 and nearly twice as many (98 per cent) as sold in February.
Vietnam’s north saw sales of 2,133 units (45 per cent), the south 1,960 units (42 per cent), and the central region 600 units (13 per cent). In the first quarter 12,061 Toyota vehicles were delivered to customers, an increase of 11 per cent year-on-year.
Sales of passenger cars in March reached 2,264 units, 19 per cent higher year-on-year. The Vios continued to hold the leading position in sales, with 1,332 units, an increase of 13 per cent and accounting for nearly 60 per cent of TMV’s total sales in the passenger car segment.
The Camry also contributed to growth in the segment, with sales of 440 units, or 313 units more than in March 2015. A total of 6,035 Toyota vehicles were sold in the passenger car segment in the first quarter of 2016, similar to the first quarter of last year.
In the commercial vehicles segment, sales reached 2,429 units in March, up 32 per cent year-on-year. The Innova recorded high growth of 52 per cent year-on-year, with 1,180 units sold, and held on to its lead in the segment. Fortuner sales reached 928 units, 8 per cent higher. Impressive sales in March helped bring total sales of Toyota commercial vehicles in the first quarter up to 6,026 units, an increase of 24 per cent compared to March 2015.
