This year's tour held in four cities, in celebration of Toyota Vietnam's 20th anniversary.
Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) held a press conference on July 21 in Hanoi to launch the 18th Toyota Concert Tour, held jointly the automaker and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra.
To mark TMV’s 20th anniversary this year, the concert tour will be organized in four cites on five nights, in Hanoi (two nights), Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Thanh Hoa, from August 5 to 13. This is the first time that the Toyota Concert has been held in Thanh Hoa, to enhance the cultural and spiritual lives of the local community.
“Over the last 18 years the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra has been honored to accompany TMV in holding the Toyota Concert Tour, bringing symphony music to the public,” said the Director of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Nguyen Tri Dung.
Beside talented performers from the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, this year’s concert will feature conductor Tetsuji Honna, violinist Bui Cong Duy, saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan, and the winner of Vietnam Idol 2014, Nhat Thuy.
In its 18 years the Toyota Concert Tour has presented 50 concerts and become a popular annual music event in Vietnam, appreciated by classical music lovers and promoting the genre in the country.
“In addition to its artistic value, the concert tours also help the community as all the money from ticket sales is used for charitable purposes,” according to Deputy Director of TMV Doan Thi Yen. “Since 2009 the money has been used for the Toyota Scholarship for young Vietnamese musical talent. As of now, 560 scholarships have been awarded to music students in Vietnam.”
