Both rear doors weakened by poor welding and must be replaced.
Problem, made since January 14, was detected in Toyota Motor Vietnam's (TMV) 764 vehicles assembled in Vietnam from December 16, 2015 to January 13, 2016.
Therefore, TMV will recall 764 Innovas from April 27 to replace the two rear doors.
According to the Toyota Motor Corporation the Innovas have stiffener bars welded inside the two doors that may come loose.
This may lead to noise coming from the two doors when being closed and reduce their stiffness and hence their ability to protect passengers during an accident.
The problem stems from suppliers in Indonesia.
After receiving approval from the Vietnam Registry at the Ministry of Transport, Toyota Motor Vietnam will officially recall the vehicles to fix the problem free of charge.
Inspection and replacement will take three to five hours.
