Tickets in 6/45 Mega jackpot lottery to be available in eleven more cities and provinces.
The State-run Vietnam Computerized Lottery Co. Ltd. (Vietlott) announced plans to expand its Mega 6/45 lottery to eleven cities and provinces around the country at a conference held by the Ministry of Finance in the Mekong Delta’s Can Tho city on August 19.
The computerized lottery will be introduced in Hanoi, Da Nang, Can Tho, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria Vung Tau, An Giang, Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa this year and in Hai Phong and Quang Ninh province in early 2017.
According to Vietlott, the expansion is aimed at meeting demand for entertainment and will create jobs and increase local budget revenue for investment in sectors such as healthcare, education, social welfare, and local security.
Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Van Hieu told the conference that the Prime Minister has approved a policy on modernizing the lottery business in Vietnam. The government has also allowed Vietlott to organize the operation of selected computerized lotteries and other prize games nationwide.
Vietlott has completed the selection and signed a business cooperation contract (BCC) with Malaysia’s Berjaya Corporation Berhad, which has technical systems meeting G7 standards. Modern data centers, dealer machines, and other equipment have been officially put into operation since July 18 this year in Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietlott recently submitted a report on the operation of its Mega 6/45 lottery in Ho Chi Minh City.
It has held 13 draws and recorded accumulative revenue of $190 million, with an average daily growth rate of more than 17 per cent. There have been 93,000 prizes issued, totaling $240,000.
Vietlott currently has 400 sales locations in Ho Chi Minh City with 500 terminals. Mr. Tong Quoc Truong, CEO of Vietlott, estimated that the number of terminals in the city would rise to 2,000 by the end of next year to meet increasing demand as the lottery becomes more popular.
According to Mr. Truong, Vietlott is planning to deploy a new form of lottery in October after the stable operations of the Mega 6/45 lottery, especially in the Mekong Delta.
The 6/45 Mega lottery, a Lotto-style game with a minimum jackpot of VND12 billion ($545,000), was launched on July 18 by Berjaya Gia Thinh, a joint venture between Vietlott and Berjaya Corporation Berhad under a BCC.
The special feature of the 6/45 Mega lottery is that the prize accumulates until there is a winner. When there are no winners from a draw, the jackpot is added to the next draw.
