The International Hospital, Medical and Pharmaceutical Exhibition (Vietnam Medipharm Expo) will be held from August 2 to August 4 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City.

With support from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the expo has been held annually for 17 years and this year sees greater participation by domestic and foreign enterprises. This 18th Vietnam Medipharm Expo is expected to attract more than 15,000 visitors.

New machinery & advanced technology introduced

The expo is expected to host some 350 domestic and foreign enterprises, an increase of 20 per cent compared to 2017.

According to figures from the Organizing Board, the number of participating enterprises has increased steadily over the last three years, with regular participants from Germany, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, India, Malaysia, and Taiwan being joined by those from Israel, Iran, Mongolia, Ukraine, Russia, and the US.

Among major product categories, medical equipment represents 55 per cent of those on display, pharmaceuticals 17 per cent, and pharmaceutical equipment 23 per cent, while dental, ophthalmology, nutraceutics, and natural medicine are increasing their representation.

Domestic producers have been limited in the field over the last four or five years. Nowadays, however, domestic products such as pharmaceutical machinery (automatic bagging machines, raw material handling, and moldings), cooling systems, orthopedic diagnostic equipment, vacuum tubes, beds, and gloves are growing steadily. At the same time, FDI enterprises in industry have actively contributed to demand for medical examinations and treatment.

The exhibition is not only an opportunity for foreign companies to promote their products and approach doctors, pharmacists and experts as well as manufacturers and distributors, it is also a venue for domestic enterprises, especially pharmaceutical companies, to do business with foreign partners and help promote development and demand in Vietnam, thereby bolstering investment attraction.

The Vietnam Medipharm Expo welcomed 10,200 experts last year, 67 per cent of whom came from Vietnam, and about 4,000 visitors, up 30 per cent compared to 2016.

To promote the objectives of the expo, the organizers (Vinexad and the Ho Chi Minh City Medical Equipment Association) invited domestic and foreign enterprises to participate and made great efforts to promote the possibility of trade opportunities and expanded investment cooperation with foreign enterprises and partners being available.
