Vietnam is among the Top 4 countries in the Asia-Pacific region recording rapid growth in the number of smartphone users, according to the “Asia Pacific Mobile Marketing” report released by Opera MediaWorks and the Asia Pacific Mobile Marketing Association.

Based on data from 400 million internet users, the report also revealed that the rate of smartphone users in Asia Pacific has continued to grow rapidly, at par with the rest of the world. India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines are recording the highest growth.

Vietnam has the highest traffic in the region, with every user in the country using 85MB per month, which is close to the global average of 90MB per month.

Over the last decade the Asia-Pacific has been leading the world in mobile innovation and the application of global equipment and services, so it’s no surprise that advertising on mobile phones has also seen very strong growth in the region, according to the report. “This really is a great time to become a mobile marketer in Asia-Pacific,” said Mr. Vikas Gulati, Marketing Director at Opera MediaWorks. “It is expected that there will be 2 billion smartphone users by 2019.”

For his part, Mr. Rohit Dadwal, Managing Director of the Asia Pacific Mobile Marketing Association, believes that marketers in Asia will lead the global mobile revolution, implementing major campaigns to take advantage of the potential from growth in mobile users in the region.
