Telecom giants' Q1 performance show positive signs.
Viettel's profit growth in first quarter rose by 26 per cent year-on-year, Vice Director Mr. Hoang Son revealed in the conference of State management in information and telecommunication. Mr. Son also added that the major of Viettel's revenue was from from overseas telecommunication market, an increase of 28 per cent year-on-year.
The other sectors contributed to Viettel's revenue were civil equipment, military equipment, software research and development. All the benefit and revenue targets had been as good as the plan, he said.
About VNPT, its Chairman, Mr. Tran Manh Hung said that the profit growth of VNPT in first quater increased 15.7 per cent compared to same period last year. It's subsidize companies' profit was higher 30 per cent. Telephone subscribers decreased 92,000 but cell phone subscribers increase more 2.3 million, increasing 61 per cent year-on-year. Mr. Hung said that customers were changing in broadband service because people prefer fibre.
Regarding Mobifone's profit growth, General Director Mr. Le Nam Tra said that Mobifone's revenue in the first quarter increased 4.6 per cent year-on-year, equal to 23.3 per cent of the 2015 plan. Furthermore, its profit rose 1.16 per cent, equal to 30 per cent of 2015 plan. Mobifone said it had conducted 11 among 30 services as it planned.
Mobifone revenue was over $396 million in the first quarter but in the second quarter, the figure was expected to be $438 million and the profit would be $82.7 million.
Vietnam Post which also has business in telecommunication business, had the revenue of $83 million in first quarter, an increase of 22 per cent year-on-year. Meanwhile, Mr. Luu Vu Hai, Chairman of Member Council said showed that VTC revenue and profit completed 29 and 30 per cent of the 2015 plan.
