Expansion will be certified to ISO:14000 environmental standards, boost production, and create jobs.
Viglacera Corporation has recently begun the expansion of its high-quality granite tile factory at the Tien Hai Industrial Park in northern Thai Binh province.
The expansion is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of this year and will increase total capacity to 3.5 million sq m per year and create 150 more jobs.
The new facility will operate in line with the ISO:14000 environmental standards and be certified as a "green factory" in the second quarter of this year.
When asked why the company chose to expand in Thai Binh, a representative from Viglacera said that the province has a favorable location and major advantages in waterway transport. "The province also has an abundant labor force, including skilled workers, and inexpensive labor costs," the representative said.
The factory's tiles will be sold in the domestic market and exported to Europe, Taiwan, and Indonesia.
In Phase 1 the factory, covering a total area of 5.5 ha, had a capacity of 1.5 million sq m of tiles per year.
Viglacera now has five factories producing ceramic tiles and granite throughout Vietnam.
