Vina Kyoei Steel Ltd put into operation its new $220 million steel plant in southern Ba Ria Vung Tau province on July 24 after three years of construction.
Located at the Phu My 1 Industrial Zone in Tan Thanh district, the steel plant has an annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes of deformed bars, thread deformed bars, plain round bars, and wire rods, among others.
Vina Kyoei Steel was established in January 1994 as a joint venture between Kyoei Steel Ltd., Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and the Marubeni-Itochu Corporation from Japan and the Vietnam Steel Corporation. It set up a steel plant with an annual capacity of 450,000 tonnes Ba Ria Vung Tau in 1996.
