Solution presented to Vietnam ICT Summit 2015 expected to provide better healthcare operations.
Health Information System (HIS) was introduced at the Vietnam ICT Summit 2015 on June 25 as a solution in healthcare management and the resolution of overcrowding in healthcare facilities, by Mr. Bui Quoc Viet, Director of the Information and Public Relations Center of VNPT.
HIS includes three management levels, Mr. Viet explained. Firstly, it will help State authorities manage hospitals with updated numbers via online systems. Secondly, it supports management at hospitals, and thirdly it directly supports patients.
“At the State management level, managers will immediately be aware of the healthcare situation in provinces,” he said. “They can then suggest solutions and make decisions to enhance healthcare services.” Hospital management, meanwhile, will have an immediate understanding of the situation at the hospital and its human resources and make improvements as required.
Patients can schedule appointments with a hospital, which are updated online, removing the need to wait. Transparency in the healthcare service will also result because all patient information is stored in the system, such as treatment time, fees paid, and prescriptions provided. “The system will also remind patients to return to the hospital and even take their medicine,” he said.
E-healthcare insurance was also introduced by Mr. Viet, which can address the occurrence of fake healthcare insurance.
“The system not only takes care of community health but also saves time and costs and ensures professional behavior in hospital management,” he concluded.
