Banking industry publication releases Top 100 ASEAN Banks 2016 list, with VietinBank outperforming all other local banks.
Among the 19 Vietnamese commercial banks listed in the Top 100 ASEAN Banks 2016 report released by The Banker on April 8, VietinBank claimed top spot in terms of core capital and pre-tax profit.
The bank ranked 25th overall - the highest among Vietnamese banks.
VietinBank also took the lead among Vietnamese banks in first-grade capital scale, with more than $2.329 trillion and pre-tax profit of $343 million.
It has also found a place in recent prestigious rankings from around the world. Besides the Top 100 Largest Banks in ASEAN, VietinBank is also the only bank in Vietnam to make the Top 400 Most Valuable Banking Brands in the World, up 58 spots in one year, with a brand value of $249 million and rated A+, as announced by Brand Finance.
VietinBank is the only bank in Vietnam ranked by Forbes as among the world’s 2,000 largest enterprises for four consecutive years (2012-2015).
This year Vietnam had 19 banks on The Banker list. According to the banking industry publication, its banking system has accelerated quickly to become the second-fastest country in terms of growth (15.66 per cent) in the Top 100 ASEAN Banks 2016, behind Cambodia with 30.4 per cent. Surprisingly, ACLEDA Bank was the only Cambodian financial institution to appear on the list.
