US firm studies Long Thanh international airport project

Leaders of the Bechtel Corporation, the largest construction and civil engineering company in the US, are on a fact-finding tour of southern Dong Nai province to learn about the Long Thanh International Airport project. Covering 5,000 hectares, the Long Thanh airport is designed to be the biggest one in Vietnam,\. Total investment capital for the project is estimated at VND 336.63 trillion ($16 billion) with construction scheduled to begin in 2019.

Vingroup wins Int’l Property Awards 2016

The Vingroup Joint Stock Company has won two prizes at the International Property Awards 2016 which took place in London on December 12. Vingroup’s Landmark 81 in Ho Chi Minh City’s Vinhomes Central Park was named the “Best International Residential High-rise Development 2016” while the Vinhomes Central Park was named “Asia-Pacific’s Best Mixed-Used Urban Development 2016.” This is the first time that a Vietnamese real estate business has won first international and regional prizes.

Vinacomin Power to debut 680 million shares on UPCoM

Vinacomin Power Holding Corporation Limited, a State-owned subsidiary of Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), will debut 680 million shares on the Unlisted Public Company Market (UPCoM) on December 15. The shares, under code DTK, will start the first trading day at VND14,000 ($0.62) per share.

Ministry to scrap, simplify 123 administrative procedural steps

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is conducting an unprecedented reform with plans to completely scrap 15 administrative procedural steps and simplify 108 others in 2017. These steps account for over 28 per cent of the ministry’s 443 procedural steps in 19 fields.

HCM City to become next Silicon Valley for startups

Ho Chi Minh City has launched a new $45 million fund to create an ecosystem modeled after Silicon Valley, California, USA, with the aim to support an estimated 2,000 start-up projects with seed capital, over the next five years.

Khanh Hoa to build fisheries center

Central Khanh Hoa province will build a fisheries center covering 65 hectares at Da Bac fishing port in Cam Ranh City. The VND 1.2 trillion ($52.9 million) center is expected to house 120,000 tons of seafood and is set to be biggest and most modern in the central region once operational in 2018.

Vietnam to host international eco-product fair

The 2017 Eco-products International Fair (EPIF) is scheduled to be held in Ho Chi Minh City from May 11-13. Operating under the theme “Green technologies and products – Actions for the Future,” the 2017 EPIF, organized by the Asian Productivity Organization, seeks to promote community awareness about environment-friendly products, services and green technology. It plans to also create opportunities for foreign and domestic businesses and manufacturers to introduce eco-products and promote investment, trade and transfer new technologies.
