The Ariyana Danang Exhibition & Convention Centre (ADECC) is finalizing its construction in preparation for the APEC 2017 meetings to be held in central Da Nang city.

With total investment of VND350 billion ($15.7 million), ADECC consists of three floors, with one basement and two upper floors covering a total of 16,644 sq m.

Construction of the main ballroom, with a capacity of 1,150 people, in on track.

Electricity and fire protection systems have been paid much attention and will be finished in time and closely follow construction progress.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, Deputy Director General of Furama Resort Danang, which manages ADECC, revealed that a number of events are scheduled to be held at center at the beginning of 2017, including the 2017 Asian Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC). “We aim to complete all elements in April 2017 and open ADECC in time for APEC 2017,” he added.

The ADECC will host APEC meetings attended by 21 leaders of member countries as well as 15,000 representatives of major enterprises and 6,000 members of international media.

With its monumental scale, the ADECC is expected to host a range of events and exhibitions of international stature, helping to attract business visitors as well as tourists to Da Nang.

Located on prime land to the south of Furama Villas Danang and Furama Resort Danang, the ADECC is part of the 27-ha Ariyana Urban and International Tourism Complex, which consists of Ariyana Beach Resort and Suites Da Nang, where ground was broken in September and which will have 1,000 rooms.

Rotated yearly among APEC members, this is the 29th meeting of APEC leaders. Construction of the new International Passenger Terminal at Da Nang Airport has also seen construction begin and will be ready for the summit.

Established in November 1989, APEC now comprises 21 economies, representing around 39 per cent of the world’s population, 57 per cent of total global GDP, and 47 per cent of global trade.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, who chaired the National Committee for APEC 2017, spoke highly of sub-committees’ efforts to effectively carry out the roadmap for hosting APEC 2017.

Hosting is part of Vietnam’s external activities to 2020 and its success will be significant in promoting the country's image as a peaceful, stable and friendly destination.
