City calls for government to fund 80% of major development.
The Hai Phong City People’s Committee is checking the preparatory works for the construction of the Civil Center project in the city, which will receive total investment of VND10 trillion ($447 million).
The project has a total area of 324 ha and spans Tan Duong, Duong Quan, and Hoa Dong communes in Thuy Nguyen district and Minh Khai ward in Hong Bang district.
The development will include technical infrastructure, the Hoang Van Thu Bridge, transport networks, and a dike on the Cam River. Implementation will be from 2015 to 2020 in three phases.
Project guidelines are yet to receive approval from the government and are currently being considered by ministries. The pre-feasibility study has been submitted to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
A survey on construction status, site compensation, support and resettlement plans, contractor selection, and project preparation have been conducted.
“Only the pre-feasibility study has been submitted to the government,” Mr. Le Khac Nam, Deputy Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee, told local media: “The city plans to ask the government to fund 80 per cent of the cost.”
