$402.66 million will go towards developing Hue into a green city in 2016-2030.
Thua Thien –Hue province will use VND9,000 billion ($402.66 million) to develop Hue city into a green urban in Vietnam and an international-standard destination from 2016 to 2030.
The plan is divided into two phases, with VND1.4 trillion ($62.6 million) in the period from 2016 to 2020 and VND7.6 trillion ($340 million) in 2020-2030.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Cao, Chairman of Thua Thien-Hue People’s Committee, Hue city will be developed to become a green urban with sustainable development to meet the requirements of environment and natural landscape protection. Especially, citadel area and relics – highlights in attracting tourists to the city will be restored.
This is a new model of urban development which is consistent with Hue city’s characteristics as a goal in action plan toward the green city to 2020 vision to 2030.
Besides a number of projects which have already been allocated funds to implement in the period 2016-2020, Thua Thien-Hue province focus on mobilizing capital from sources including the state budget, ODA from multilateral donors such as ADB, World Bank, and OPEC's Fund for International Development (OFID) OFID or from bilateral donors such as Japan, South Korea, and Hungary, etc.
Improving the urban environment and rainwater and waste-water harvesting and treatment especially for Hue ancient capital and surrounding area, renovating system of ponds and canals, developing landfills at Huong Binh commune, developing energy saving lighting systems are priority of the city.
The city government also put priority in expanding the variety of tourist activities, including cultural and ecology tourism and developing public transport and non-motorized transport in Hue ancient capital area.
