Italian culinary expert Stefania Corrado will perform a cooking demonstration of Italian specialties such as lemonade and coffee from Italian and Vietnamese ingredients at Ly Thai To Square on the occasion of the 3rd “Piazza Italia 2019” and the 4th “World Week of Italian Cuisine” from November 18 to 24, a press conference on November 19 in Hanoi heard.

Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam, H.E. Antonion Alessandro, said the “World Week of Italian Cuisine” is an initiative of Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote the country’s culture and cuisine. During the week, there will be 1,000 Italian cuisine events held around the world. The theme of this year’s holding is “Culture of Healthy Eating and Taste”.

“I would like to emphasize four words: Food - Education - Culture - Taste, and the importance of cuisine in Italian life,” he said. “In particular, the theme of this 4th ‘World Week of Italian Cuisine’ is the link between food and health.” Italy, he added, is a country that follows healthy eating habits.

“Our delicious dishes are not only famous for their recipes but also for the quality of the ingredients and the balance of ingredients,” the Ambassador said. “Food represents the Italian way of life.”

He added that there are many similarities between Italian and Vietnamese cuisine, such as cuisine representing the lifestyles of the people of each country and regional culinary culture.

“World Week of Italian Cuisine” 2019 aims at promoting the popularity of Italian cuisine and Mediterranean diets abroad as well as showcasing the distinctive features of Italian production (“Made in Italy”): quality, ecology, identity, and food culture.

During the week in Hanoi, a variety of activities are being organized such as seminars, classes on culinary topics, and wine tasting sessions, etc. At the end of the week will be the “Piazza Italia 2019” event in Ly Thai To Square on November 23 and 24, where visitors have the opportunity to explore not only Italian cuisine but also different aspects of Italian life, such as music, design, fashion, cinema, and sports. “Piazza Italia 2019” will be organized overnight to recreate Italy’s “White Night” in Hanoi. The event is free to the public.
