Organizers target event becoming the most exciting marathon in Southeast Asia.

The Ho Chi Minh City Marathon 2018, powered by Taiwan Excellence, was held on January 13 and 14 in District 7, attracting more than 8,000 runners from 49 countries.

With the ambition of becoming the most exciting marathon in Vietnam as well as in Southeast Asia, Taiwan Excellence brought to life the Taiwan Excellence Experiencing Zone, featuring 18 leading Taiwanese brands with memorable and interesting experiences for participants.

Carrying the mission of “Dream Big with the City”, Taiwan Excellence was once again the title sponsor of the Ho Chi Minh City Marathon 2018, which has been officially listed in the national competition system by Vietnam Athletics Federation and the Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation and endorsed by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

Contributing towards an active and healthy lifestyle among Vietnamese people, the Taiwan Excellence campaign, initiated by the Bureau of Foreign Trade and organized by the Taiwan Foreign Trade Development Association (TAITRA), has been the title sponsor of the marathon for four consecutive years.

Mr. James C. F. Huang, Chairman of TAITRA, was in attendance and emphasized the importance of the Vietnamese market to the Taiwan Excellence campaign and its commitment to bringing a positive spirit and goodwill from Taiwan to Vietnamese consumers.

“Officially renamed the Ho Chi Minh City Marathon, the event now can go back to its original roots, which was to become a marathon for the entire city,” said Mr. Huang. “Twenty-six years ago, most of the athletes were veterans from Vietnam and the US. Today, the event attracts young people; the future leaders. Taiwan Excellence is honored to contribute to the forming of such a humanitarian and immensely practical event, promoting healthy and active lifestyles among Vietnamese youth. We would therefore like to deepen the friendship between Vietnam and Taiwan as well as enhance diplomatic relations between the two sides.”

He also mentioned the significant achievements of Taiwan Excellence in Vietnam. “The latest market research shows that 80 per cent of consumers find it easy to identify Taiwanese technology, home appliances, and e-commerce products branded as Taiwanese, even surpassing South Korea and close to the US,” he said. “For every ten respondents, eight recognize and appreciate the quality and design of products originating from Taiwan. This shows that Taiwanese brands have gradually won the hearts of Vietnamese consumers.”
