The CJ Group held a scholarship presentation ceremony last week for students in the central highlands’ Lam Dong Province in difficult family circumstances but striving to succeed in their studies.

This is the seventh consecutive year the CJ Group has presented scholarships to such students in Lam Dong, demonstrating its corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the community and society.

Attending the ceremony were representatives from the province and from the CJ Group, including Mr. Jung Young Soo, Senior CJ Global Adviser, and Mr. Chang Bok Sang, CEO and Chairman of the CJ Group in Vietnam, as well as more than 200 guests and students from Lam Dong.

The CJ Group has granted more than 700 scholarships to poor students in the province since 2013. It granted 100 this year to over-achieving students from the elementary to university level. The scholarships are estimated to be worth $17,300 in total, and are given directly to the students to help with tuition fees and living costs.

2019 was another year of the CJ Group implementing a variety of projects and community activities throughout Vietnam.

Significant CSR / CSV projects in culture and education the CJ Group has embarked upon this year include the “We Are Able” project, of which the Group is the main financial sponsor and cooperates with UNESCO to improve the education rights of ethnic minority girls in the three provinces Ha Giang, Ninh Thuan, and Soc Trang in 2019-2021, and main sponsor of the Vietnam National Taekwondo Team and the National Youth Taekwondo Championship from 2019 to 2021.

The CJ Group’s annual scholarship program for poor but gifted students in Lam Dong province is one of its long-term and stable educational sponsorship activities.
