Many taking a dip in Linh Dam Lake and elsewhere during ongoing hot spell.
With temperatures hovering around the 40C mark for the last few days people have been looking for ways to cool down. Many have headed to Linh Dam Lake in Thanh Tri district for a swim, with hundreds of adults and children in the water late yesterday afternoon.
Linh Dam Lake was renovated and remodeled recently and its water is clean. The paving by the lakeshore extends out into the water, meaning it’s only a meter or so deep, which encourages parents to bring their kids for a bit of a splash around or a swimming lesson.
There are three popular places for a dip around the lake. The area near Thanh Tri Bridge attracts the most people because the water here is the cleanest and is quite shallow.
The area near Nguyen Huu Tho Street is the deepest. There are warning signs but not many of the youngsters in the water seem to take much notice.
Mr. Banh, a regularly swimmer at the spot, said that the water is clean and there’s been a lot of people coming for a swim since the summer began, not only during the ongoing heat wave.
There’s no relief in sight just yet, with temperatures expected to remain high for a couple of more days at least. The city's many other lakes, such as West Lake, will remain popular places until the hot spell ends.
