Da Nang’s Expat Got Talent 2018 took place on the evenings of December 8 and 9 in central Da Nang city at the Trung Vuong Theatre in Hai Chau district.

The contest was open to all foreign economic, political and social groups, non-government organizations and international businesses with an office in Da Nang, and any expats living, studying or working in the city or neighboring localities such as Hue and Hoi An.

Participants performed international or Vietnamese music, including folk songs, instrumental performances, dancing, singing, magic, circus performances, theater, hip-hop, beatbox, and others. Each individual performed for seven minutes at a maximum while groups had 15 to 20 minutes. Performances were intended to present the cultural characteristics of the participants’ home countries.

Three prizes were presented in each category, including VND10 million ($440), VND7 million ($300) and VND5 million ($220) for the three best group performances and VND5 million ($220), VND3 million ($130) and for the three best solo performance. All performers received a Certificate of Participation. The best individuals and groups were invited to perform at upcoming arts events in the city.

Organized by the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism for the first time last year, the contest aims to promote arts and cultural exchange among expatriate communities and local people in celebration of the new year. It is also an opportunity for local people and tourists to enjoy interesting cultural and arts performances from all over the world as well as advertise the city’s image to international friends through local expat communities.
