Cultural activities and performances being held on September 2 in Hanoi.
A range of cultural activities and performances are being held in Hanoi to celebrate National Day on September 2.
Starting off is a rally and parade to celebrate 70 years since the August Revolution and the first National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in Ba Dinh Square at 7am.
The Ministry of Defense will fire a 21-gun salute during a flag-raising ceremony, expected at 7.10am. The gunnery will be located in the nearby Thang Long Royal Citadel.
From 8pm in the evening, street shows and performances will take place at Ly Thai To Garden, the center of Long Bien district, the center of Ha Dong district, and in front of My Dinh Stadium and the National Conventional Center in Nam Tu Liem district.
At 9pm are fireworks displays in five locations: Hoan Kiem Lake in the city center, Thong Nhat Park in Hai Ba Trung district, Van Quan Lake in Ha Dong district, My Dinh Stadium in Nam Tu Liem district, and West Lake in Tay Ho district. The displays will last 15 minutes.
From 9pm on September 1 to midday on September 2, no vehicles are allowed to enter the following streets: Lieu Giai, Van Cao, Kim Ma, Doi Can, Thuy Khue, Hoang Hoa Tham, Ngoc Ha, Hung Vuong, Chu Van An, Chua Mot Cot, Le Hong Phong, Ong Ich Khiem, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Tran Phu, Quan Thanh, Thanh Nien, Yen Phu, Tran Quang Khai, Hong Ha, Doc Lap, Ton That Dam, Dien Bien Phu, Hoang Dieu, Nguyen Tri Phuong, Trang Thi, Hang Khay, Trang Tien, Co Tan, and other small streets and sections of some other large streets. Trucks and vehicles with 24 seats or more are prohibited on certain other streets.
