People's Committee announces fireworks for night of April 30.
The Hanoi People's Committee has announced plans for a fireworks display to mark Reunification Day on April 30.
The fireworks will be set off from six locations - three at a high height and three at a low height.
The high-height fireworks will be set off from the Hanoi Post Office, next to Hoan Kiem Lake in the city center, Van Quan Lake in Ha Dong district, and the central square of Son Tay town. 1,500 fireworks will be set off at these locations.
The low-height fireworks will be set off from the headquarters of the Ha Noi Moi (New Hanoi) newspaper in Hoan Kiem district, Thong Nhat Park in Hai Ba Trung district, and the My Dinh National Stadium in Nam Tu Liem district.
The fireworks will light up the sky from 9pm to 9.15pm on April 30 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of southern liberation and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2015).
The Hanoi People's Committee has requested that the Hanoi High Command transport the fireworks and oversee their firing on schedule. The City Police and the Firefighting Police will maintain security and prevent fires.
The Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has found a sponsor for the fireworks so that no funds from the local budget will be used.
Mr. Phan Dang Long, Deputy Chairman of the Department of Propaganda at the Hanoi Party Committee, said that in addition to the six locations mentioned above the city is calling for donations from organizations and enterprises so that another location can be used near the new Nhat Tan Bridge.
