Rain floods northern region and is forecast to last until August 4.
Prolonged rains have lashed Hanoi from the midday today, August 1, flooding many streets.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), floods of 0.1 to 0.3 meters will many streets. In Quan Hoa Street, Cau Giay district, rainfall already measures 25 millimeters, while in Dinh Cong Street in Hoang Mai district 27 millimeters has been recorded.
The Hanoi Drainage Company has mobilized all workers to monitor areas subject to flooding.
It is forecast that heavy rain will last until August 8, caused by a storm off the northern coast.
Landslides and flooding have already hit many localities in northern Quang Ninh province and show no signs of ending, causing damage to people and property. Total damage is estimated at VND 2 trillion ($92 million) so far.
