Primarily funded by JICA, new project to upgrade city's water supply network.
A project costing nearly VND10.4 billion ($463,100) aimed at reducing water loss in Hanoi will be implemented by the Hanoi Water Limited Company (Hawaco) between 2016 and 2018.
The project, which includes funding of nearly VND9 billion ($404,500) from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will apply advanced technology to curb leaks in Hanoi’s water supply network and improve supply to customers.
Training courses will provide workers in the sector with the skills to reduce water loss and help them instruct others after the course. Japanese experts and modern technology will be sent to Hanoi by JICA.
Vietnam will contribute nearly VND1.4 billion ($58,600) in training equipment, workspaces, and the repair of broken water meters. Hawaco is to verify the quality of equipment from relevant agencies within the project as well as implement and monitor the project under governmental and city regulations.
