Plant to ensure sufficient water supply to residents and be fully completed by 2020.
Hanoi is to build a new water plant to supply sufficient clean water to its residents, according to government media. The Hanoi People's Committee has already issued a decision to prepare a location for the Red River Water Plant, with construction expected to begin in October.
The plant will receive total investment capital of VND3.7 trillion ($164.46 million), with a capacity in the first stage of 300,000 cubic meters a day. The supply will be sufficient for residents in the city and areas that do not have water supply pipes as yet, in particular those living near Ring Road No. 3 (in districts such as Soc Son, Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Thanh Xuan, Hoang Mai, Gia Lam, and Dong Anh), Highway No. 32 (from Cau Giay district to Ba Vi district), and Dan Phuong district.
The first stage of the project will be finished in 2018 and the second stage by 2020.
Plans to build a second pipeline to supply water from the Da River are also being accelerated. In October the Vietnam Construction and Import - Export JSC (Vinaconex), the investor of the first water supply pipeline from the Da River, will begin construction of the second, with completion expected by May 2016.
