Long lines form for Pentaxim vaccine but many go home empty handed after supplies exhausted.
Hundreds of people stood in queues overnight at sales points in Hanoi on December 25 in the cold and rain hoping to get Pentaxim vaccine for their children.
Many parents waited patiently in the harsh conditions only to find their efforts were in vain, as supplies ran out.
“I came here at 2am and it was already crowded,” said Mr. Trinh Ngoc Quang from Hoan Kiem district. He has two children, 20 months old and 3 months old. “We tried to get the vaccine this morning but couldn’t, so we well wait until we can,” he said despondently.
Earlier, the Drug Administration of Vietnam at the Ministry of Health said there would be 200,000 doses of the 5-in-1 Pentaxim vaccine, produced by Sanofi Pasteur from France, provided to the market in two phases. The first phase, with 160,000 doses, was made available this morning, and 40,000 doses will be made available in February.
