Hanoi gives green light to overall planning of Xuan Mai, in Chuong My district, as a satellite urban area.
Planning for the Xuan Mai urban area in the southwest of Hanoi, bordering Hoa Binh province, has been approved. It will include the entire administrative area of Xuan Mai town and four communes in Chuong My district: Thuy Xuan Tien, Nam Phuong Tien, Tan Tien, and Hoang Van Thu.
Xuan Mai will become a satellite urban area of the capital’s southwest; a service - industrial urban area supporting the development of nearby craft villages.
The area is also a traffic and trade gateway between Hanoi and northwestern provinces. There will be education and training centers and an ecological urban center based on the existing natural landscape.
Its population is estimated to be 100,000 by 2020, of which the urban population will stand at some 42,420 people and the rural population 57,580, for an urbanization rate of around 42.4 per cent.
The natural planning area is 6,538 hectares, including an inner area of 3,586 hectares and outer area of 2,952 hectares.
