Sheraton Nha Trang Hotel & Spa in partnership with California Fitness & Yoga Nha Trang cooperated with charity partner Operation Smile in Vietnam to raise more than VND230 million ($10,500) during the 4th “Run To Give” charity fun run held at Nha Trang Stadium on September 24.

The money is raised to fund surgeries for children with harelips and cleft clefts and deliver postoperative and ongoing medical therapies to those in the low and middle-income bracket in Nha Trang so they can have the gift of a confident smile.

“We are grateful for the support from so many companies and the Nha Trang community to ‘Run to Give’,” said Ms. Catherine Racsko, GM of Sheraton Nha Trang said. “Sheraton and California Fitness are proud that every dong from registration fees, donations, and sponsorship will go to surgeries for unfortunate children in Khanh Hoa province. We believe that every child deserves the gift of an amazing and confident smile and we dream of a world where no child suffers from a lack of access to safe surgery.” The fun run will be held annually.

The initiative was launched by Starwood Hotel & Resorts Asia Pacific in 2014 under the “Starwood Cares” umbrella, with various properties across the region organizing unique fun runs to raise funds for a local charity in their area.

A total of 350 runners of all ages participated in the 3.2-km run, including two recipients of surgeries: Dang Thi My Tien (14 years old) and Dang Hung Thanh (12 years old), while Ms. Pham Huong from Operation Smile also took part.

The fastest male runner finished the run in 15 minutes while the fastest female finished in 20 minutes. All other runners and walkers did their best, with prizes given to the oldest runner, who is 59 years old, and the youngest, who is four years old.
