SCG Street Football 2018, with the theme “From Street To Star”, has kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City, gathering almost 80 teams and around 500 players. SCG again brings football fans a refreshing experience, combining fierce football competitions and super exciting football activities on the street. The total experience is brought by SCG and its subsidiaries PRIME, COTTO, IDEA, and Long Son Petrochemical.

SCG’s street football competition is designed for players from 16 to 22 years old, playing in a 3 vs. 3 mini street football format. Each team consists of a maximum of seven players. After the qualification rounds, two winning teams from Hanoi and two from Ho Chi Minh City will play in finals to crown the champion.

“We believe that some young football stars begin with practicing football on street playgrounds,” said Mr. Montri Mahaplearkpong, Vice President of SCG Vietnam. “From here, their love for football lights up, their passion to win nourished, and their spirit to fight till the end encouraged. Therefore, SCG would like to be a part of this journey to find and support the next football stars in Vietnam.”

“SCG Street Football 2018 follows the introduction of our street football tournament in Hanoi last year, which also attracted hundreds of players and thousands of spectators. This year, to continue our efforts to develop Vietnamese through sport, SCG expanded the tournament to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.”

More than just a competition among street football teams, SCG Street Football 2018 has turned football events into exciting festivals, with entertaining activities that captivate local people of all ages. Besides the main competition, SCG also organized the Talent Kid Skill Challenge for kids under 14 years old to test their football skills through various challenges. The program featured freestyle football star Do Kim Phuc, runner-up in the Asia Freestyle Football Skill Contest. Spectators are also hyped up with the chance to win instant prizes.

After this tournament in Ho Chi Minh City, the qualification round in Hanoi will take place on September 22.
