Thirty-one locations throughout capital to host fireworks displays on the evening of February 7.
This year Hanoi will have fireworks displays at 31 locations to celebrate the Lunar New Year (Tet) on the evening of February 7, six of which are high-height fireworks and 25 low-height.
The six high-height fireworks will be set off at Hoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park (Hai Ba Trung district), Lac Long Quan (Tay Ho district), Van Quan Lake (Ha Dong district), and My Dinh National Stadium (Nam Tu Liem district). Fireworks will be set off from two locations at Hoan Kiem Lake: in front of Post Office and in front of the New Hanoi newspaper building.
The low-height locations will be in 25 districts and communes in the city, with the exact location to be decided by local authorities.
Mr. To Van Dong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that for multiple reasons there will be no fireworks display at Nhat Tan Bridge this year.
Private funding will cover the cost of the fireworks displays, he added. The Hanoi People’s Committee directed the Department of Planning and Investment to take charge of securing the funding, working with the Department of Finance and related parties to call for contributions from organizations and corporations.
