Supply in southwest of capital to cost more from October 1.
The Water Investment and Business JSC (VIWACO), which supplies water to 100,000 households in Thanh Xuan district and Dong Da district in Hanoi, has announced that water prices will increase from October 1.
Prices for households will increase to nearly VND6,000 ($0.27) per cu m up to 10 cu m of use, then VND7,000 ($0.31) from 10 cu m to 20 cu m, VND8,700 ($0.39) from 20 cu m to 30 cu m, and VND16,000 ($0.71) for 30 cu m and above.
The flat rate water price for companies, organizations, administrative offices and individuals conducting business activities has also been increased. For administrative offices or public services, the price is VND10,000 ($0.44) per cu m, VND11,600 ($0.52) per cu m for manufacturing units, and VND22,000 ($0.98) for other businesses.
The new price regime is excluding VAT of 5 per cent and an environmental protection fee of 10 per cent.
Water use in September will be calculated under the former price regime.
VIWACO said that even after the prices increase they will still be lower than in some other cities and provinces.
