Need to correct technical errors may lead to implementation being delayed from expected July 1.
The implementation of the Criminal Procedure Code, which was amended on November 27, 2015 by the 13th National Assembly (NA) and was to take effect on July 1, may be postponed so that technical errors can be corrected.
At a meeting on June 27 the 13th NA Standing Committee and heads of local NA delegations decided to send ballots to delegates nationwide to vote remotely for a postponement of the effectiveness of the law until July 1 next year.
A remote vote is necessary as the NA cannot be convened quickly enough.
Results will be announced after June 29.
The existing Criminal Procedure Code will remain in effect.
