New Ambassador to Belgium and Head of Vietnam's delegation to EU calls on EC President.
Head of the Vietnamese delegation to the European Union (EU) and Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium, H.E. Vuong Thua Phong, presented his credentials to the President of the European Council (EC) Donald Tusk on April 29 after taking up the positions previously held by H.E. Pham Sanh Chau.
Ambassador Phong expressed his appreciation of the EU being Vietnam's second largest trade partner and largest export market.
The EU is also Vietnam's leading development and investment partner as well as the biggest provider of development assistance and non-refundable aid, he said.
President Tusk also expressed his satisfaction with the progress of all-around cooperation between the EU and Vietnam.
He said the EU values the effective promotion of bilateral and multilateral coordination with Vietnam, especially within the framework of the EU-ASEAN, the Asia-Europe Meeting, and other international forums.
Both sides, he went on, will soon conclude negotiations and sign the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.
