Khanh Hoa province seeks MoT approval to build international terminal to serve greater tourist numbers to Nha Trang.
The Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company (CRTC) has sent a proposal to the Ministry of Transport (MoT) to build a new international terminal at Cam Ranh International Airport in the central province of Khanh Hoa.
With total investment of nearly VND3.4 trillion ($152 million) the project covers an area of 5.2 ha with two separate levels - one for departures and one for arrivals - together with approach roads, a car park, and other facilities.
The new terminal will have 80 check-in counters arranged in four rows, ten boarding gates, and four luggage carousels.
It is designed to receive 4 million passengers a year, increasing to 8 million by 2030 to meet higher tourist numbers to nearby Nha Trang.
Singaporean architects CPG Consultants and the US-based PAE have been selected as the project’s design consultants. The two previously consulted on the designs of terminals at Phu Quoc, Can Tho, Vinh, Cat Bi, Tho Xuan and Da Nang airports.
If the MoT gives its approval construction will begin in September and be completed at the end of 2017.
