E5 gasoline beginning to find favor among motorists despite its production and distribution facing ongoing difficulties.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai sought to bolster the distribution and consumption of biological gasoline (E5 biogasoline) on a national scale at a meeting on June 9 reviewing the production and trade of the biofuel in the first five months of the year.
The Deputy PM acknowledged the key results from implementing a biogasoline policy over recent months, which will contribute to cutting dependence on fossil fuels, protect the environment, guarantee national energy security, and improve the lives of farmers.
He also assigned ministries and departments to continue preparing the necessary conditions for the manufacture and distribution of biogasoline on a national scale into the future.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has been assigned to coordinate with relevant agencies to promote the use of biofuels and issue national standards and technical regulations for biofuel production.
Enterprises producing E5 biogasoline will coordinate closely with major units such as PetroVietnam and Saigon Petrol in its preparation, production, and distribution.
Vietnam now has three enterprises manufacturing E5, with output standing at 85,000 tons in the opening months of the year. Eight cities and provinces have applied to sell the biofuel: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Quang Ngai, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Can Tho and Quang Nam.
One survey found that consumers have gradually taken to using E5 biogasoline and enterprises have received no complaints regarding its quality. However, Deputy PM Hai pointed out that consumption is still experiencing some difficulties due to shortcomings in the distribution system, fluctuating prices, and imbalances between supply and demand.
