June 7 gathering brings together overseas Vietnamese and local experts to discuss matters relating to competitiveness and development.
A forum of overseas Vietnamese intellectuals and experts focusing on improving Vietnam’s competitiveness in the global economy will be held in Hanoi on June 7.
Over 100 domestic and foreign delegates will be in attendance, including 30 overseas Vietnamese economists, policy experts, scientists, and lecturers from the US, the UK, France, and Australia, and 70 Vietnamese economists, policy makers, and representatives from local authorities.
The event aims to create the opportunity for overseas Vietnamese intellectuals and experts to express their opinions on Vietnam’s economic development and integration for the 2016-2020 period and subsequent years.
There will also be discussions on a range of topics, including Vietnam’s economic restructuring, the country’s growth model, improving governance capacity, banking and finance reform, and development policies for industry, agriculture and businesses, among others.
The forum is being co-organized by the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
