FUV will be the first private and non-profit university in Vietnam, creating a talent training system and being a forum for policy recommendations.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has signed a decision to establish the Fulbright University Vietnam (FUV).
FUV will operate in accordance with essential management principles, including transparency, accountability, autonomy, meritocracy, mutual respect, and suggestive teaching.
In the first five years efforts will focus on building three integrated training facilities: the Fulbright Management and Public Policy University, the Fulbright Engineering and Applied Science University, and the Fulbright University, to offer Bachelor programs in the field of social sciences and humanities.
In July 2015, during his official visit to the US, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was present at a ceremony in New York to issue investment certificates for FUV.
“I appreciate your opinion that the development of FUV is for the cause of education and training,” the Party leader was quoted as saying. He also expressed a hope that the project would contribute to strengthening relations between Vietnam and the US.
