City wishes to cooperate with IT giant on e-government to improve management.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Mr. Dinh La Thang, met with Mr. Mark Day, General Manager, Local, Municipal Government, Health & Education at the Microsoft Corporation on March 31.
Mr. Thang praised Microsoft’s long-time presence in the country and said he welcomed further cooperation.
“Ho Chi Minh City is working on becoming a financial, economic and cultural center in the region,” he said. “To meet its target the city has developed many breakthrough programs with specific solutions in key areas, such as traffic, the environment, and urban planning,” he added. “The city and Microsoft will work more closely in technology application, particularly IT application, to develop the city as a smart city.”
Mr. Thang added that along with the development of e-government the city hopes to work with Microsoft in sectors such as consultancy and applying solutions to e-health care, smart transportation, food hygiene and safety, crime prevention and flood prevention.
Mr. Day said that Microsoft was willing to co-operate with the city under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
