First four months sees rising production against same period of 2014 while inventories also rose.
According to the General Statistics Office the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in April is estimated to have increased by 9.5 per cent compared to the same period last year. The mining and quarrying sector rose 5.8 per cent while processing and manufacturing increased 10.9 per cent. Electricity production recorded a 6.7 per cent increase and water supply 5.5 per cent.
In the first four months of the year the IIP rose by 9.4 per cent in total, against 5.5 per cent in the same period of 2014. Mobile phone production increased dramatically, by 89 per cent, the manufacture of vehicles (trucks and buses), by 58.4 per cent, and television production by 41.8 per cent. Some sectors, meanwhile, fell slightly, such as liquefied gas by 4 per cent, milk powder 5.4 per cent, and other motor vehicles 11.6 per cent.
In terms of location, production in northern Thai Nguyen province recorded a significant increase of 53.5 per cent, central Quang Nam province 21.8 per cent, and northern Hai Phong city 15.2 per cent. Conversely, the IIP in central Quang Ngai province fell 3.1 per cent, southern Vung Tau province 4.7 per cent, and northern Bac Ninh province by a significant 24.7 per cent.
The inventory index of industrial production as at April 1 had increased 11.3 per cent compared to the same period last year. Beverage inventories saw a significant increase of 60.4 per cent, while the figure for motor vehicles rose 50.9 per cent. Beds, wardrobes, tables and chairs saw the highest fall in inventories, at 39.5 per cent, while tobacco inventories declined 19.9 per cent.
