Eleven-month figure up nearly 10%, led by electricity production.
The industrial production index (IPP) in November increased 8.9 per cent compared to November last year, according to the General Statistics Office, with the processing sector recording the highest growth, of 11.3 per cent, followed by electricity with 11.2 per cent. Water supply and wastewater treatment was up by 10.4 per cent and mining sector by just 0.6 per cent.
In the first eleven months of the year the IIP rose 9.7 per cent year-on-year. Mining increased 8.1 per cent while electricity production, water supply and wastewater treatment, and processing grew 11.5 per cent, 7.5 per cent, and 10.1 per cent, respectively.
A number of industrial products rose significantly in the period compared to last year, such as automotive, TVs, and mobile phones, by 55.6 per cent, 51.1 per cent, and 38.7 per cent, respectively. Footwear production also increased, by 18.3 per cent, and rolled steel by 18.2 per cent.
In terms of locations, the IPP for Thai Nguyen grew the highest, by 107.3 per cent, followed by Quang Nam, Hai Phong and Da Nang, by 34.6 per cent, 16.5 per cent, and 13.9 per cent, respectively.
