The Japan Branding Consumer Product Outlet Fair kicked off in Hanoi on January 5 and will last through January 8, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reports.

The event is being organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Vietnam National Trade Fair and Advertising Company (Vinexad).

According to the State news agency, nearly 100 pavilions have been set up selling various kinds of products, such as household utensils, garments, jewelry, healthcare and beauty care goods, decorations and souvenirs, and electrical equipment.

Other activities include a fashion show of the Japanese traditional costume, the Kimono, Ikebana flower arrangements, and street food.

VNA quoted Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Domestic Market Department, Le An Hai, as saying that the fair, the first of its kind in Hanoi, creates a good chance for Vietnamese and Japanese investors and businesses to forge connectivity.

Chief Representative of JETRO, Atsusuke Kawada, said that after successful trade and investment activities in Vietnam, Japanese investors and entrepreneurs have recognized the huge potential the country possesses, especially its retail market.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as at early December, Japan was the second-largest investor among over 100 countries and territories investing in Vietnam, with 3,243 projects and capital of $42 billion. Two-way trade between Vietnam and Japan hit $27 billion last November.
