Project on automated customs clearance receives assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is supporting the “Strengthening the Effectiveness of Vietnam’s Automated Cargo Clearance System (VNACCS)” technical cooperation project, which will officially start from August 1.
The project aims to facilitate the more efficient operation of the e-customs system, called the VNACCS / Vietnam Customs Intelligent System (VCIS), which follows the project “Promoting E-customs in Vietnam” that finished at the end of July.
Since the application of VNACCS/VCIS started in April 2014 about 99 per cent of import and export declarations have been made via VNACCS. From April 2014 to March 2015 there were 56,000 enterprises submitting declarations via the system for goods worth $271.5 million.
However, VNACCS/VCIS is not yet fully functional so the cooperation from JICA aims to handle outstanding issues and bring more efficiency to the system.
