Nga Ba Hue overpass the first three-level overpass in Vietnam and the largest in Southeast Asia.
After 18 months of construction the Nga Ba Hue overpass, the largest three-level overpass in Southeast Asia, will be opened tomorrow on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang.
Located on National Highway 1A, which runs into and out of the central city, the project is invested by the Trung Nam Group in the build-operate-transfer (BOT) mode, with total investment capital of VND2 trillion ($96.2 million).
The Nga Ba Hue overpass has three levels and 50 spans, with a total of length of more than 2 km. The ground level has lanes that take vehicles straight through with no railway level-crossings, while the first level has a roundabout of four lanes. The top level serves vehicles travelling from Hue to the center of Da Nang, with four lanes. According to Mr. Nguyen Tam Tien, General Director of the Trung Nam Group, more than 1,000 workers and engineers have been working three shifts a day to ensure project progress.
For many years Nga Ba Hue has been considered a “black spot”, with many accidents. After completion the overpass will contribute to reducing the number of accidents at the intersection between National Highway 1A and the railway line. “The overpass will help people save more than 10 minutes when entering the city center,” said Mr. Tien.
