Conference reviewing discuss on economic cooperation between Vietnam and France
Conference aimed at bolstering ties between Vietnam and France and former's FTA with the EU approaches.
The “Vietnam - a New Asian Dragon” conference and a series of round-table seminars were held in Paris on March 25, attended by more than 250 Vietnamese and French enterprises with discussions focusing on economic cooperation between the two countries.
This was the first large-scale business conference on Vietnam at the French Senate, co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnamese Embassy in France, the French Senate, and the French Agency for Trade and Investment Promotion (Business France).
Vietnam is considered one of the most dynamic economies in Southeast Asia, with an active open-door policy in place as it integrates internationally, said Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang.
He added that France is among Vietnam’s leading business, economic, and investment partners in the EU. Bolstering cooperation in all aspects between the two will have a significant influence on relations between Vietnam and the EU.
The visit by French President François Hollande to Vietnam, scheduled for this year, is a good opportunity to cement bilateral relations, Mr. Hoang added.
According to Mr. Henri Baissas, General Director of Business France, there are about 2,000 French enterprises exporting goods to Vietnam. The country could become a major trading partner of France, as it has bright economic prospects that promise fruitful cooperation.
Vietnamese enterprises introduced major export products at the event, in particular farm products such as rice, tea, coffee, and cashew nuts. French enterprises presented their technology and spoke of their potential in the fields of infrastructure development, transport, renewable energy, and pharmaceuticals.
Within the framework of the event the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VietTrade) and Business France signed an agreement to help the enterprises of both sides intensify commercial exchange and investment in the two countries.
