General Secretary and delegation on US visit hear recommendations from US enterprises on improving the country's investment environment.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the senior Vietnamese delegation visiting the US attended a roundtable discussion with representatives of large US enterprises organized by the US Chamber of Commerce and the US-ASEAN Business Council on July 9 (Vietnam time).
General Secretary Trong touched on Vietnam’s economic situation and policies and decisions adopted to create conditions that will promote economic development and further strengthen economic cooperation, trade, and investment between Vietnam and the US.
Representatives of the US enterprises expressed their confidence in Vietnam’s potential in human and natural resources and the prospects for Vietnam-US cooperation, especially in the fields of economics, trade, and investment.
They appreciated the visit by the Party leader, which has historical significance for both countries, and expressed a belief that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will bring more opportunities for trade and investment between the US and Vietnam.
Meanwhile, representatives of US-ASEAN Business Council spoke of their interest in Vietnam’s investment environment and pledged to quickly implement cooperation and investment with Vietnamese partners.
The US enterprises also noted that the amended Law on Investment had removed many barriers to foreign investors investing in Vietnam and outlined recommendations aimed at further improving Vietnam’s environment investment.
Acknowledging the recommendations of the US enterprises, General Secretary Trong affirmed that Vietnam would continue with efforts to innovate and promote administrative reform, especially tax procedures, customs procedures, social insurance, and business start-ups, with the aim of creating an attractive investment environment for foreign investors.
He hoped US businesses would invest in Vietnam’s large projects using modern, environmentally-friendly technology, to serve the global strategies of enterprises and contribute to developing the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the US.
