Official visit to take place from July 6 to 10.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong will pay an official visit to the US from July 6 to July 10, according to an announcement from the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s External Relations Commission on July 3.
At the invitation of the US Government, the visit takes place after a wide range of high-level meetings between leaders from Vietnam and US to mark the 20th anniversary of the normalization of relations.
Trade turnover between the two countries has increased dramatically, from $451 million in 1995 to $35 billion in 2014.
The US is now the seventh largest investor in Vietnam. The two countries are anticipating successful negotiations over the Trans-Pacific Partnership this year, which is considered a huge opportunity for bolstering trade and investment even further.
