President and high-ranking delegation began three-day visit on November 24.
On Tuesday evening in Berlin (Wednesday morning Vietnam time), President Truong Tan Sang and a high-ranking delegation arrived at Berlin Tegel Airport to begin a three-day visit to Germany. He was welcomed by a flyover of two fighter jets and a 21-gun salute.
At a meeting with Federal President Joachim Gauck in Berlin, President Sang stressed that relations between Vietnam and Germany continue to develop in all facets. The political and diplomatic relationship has been deepened and economic cooperation has made important progress and is regarded as the main pillar in the strategic partnership. Numerous bilateral projects in fields such as science, the environment, energy, culture, and tourism are evidence of the success of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Germany.
“We want to emphasize that Germany is one of our most important partners in Europe,” President Sang said. “We hope this partnership will be maintained so that our two countries will continue to develop together in prosperity,” he said.
He also met with representatives from the Vietnamese community in Germany. He expressed his appreciation of the contributions they have made to the country’s development, underlining that the community has been and will always be an indispensable part of the Vietnamese people. The Party and the State of Vietnam pay close attention to the protection of the interests of Vietnamese communities abroad. They should help each other and preserve the traditions and culture of Vietnam, he said.
