Da Nang leads the way on Provinces index, while Ministry of Transport tops Ministries index.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has released its Public Administration Reform (PAR) Index for 2014 in two categories: Provinces and Ministries.
Central Da Nang city held first place in Provinces, with a score of 92.54/100 in effective administration reform, with northern Bac Kan province in last place. Most ratings increased, with this being the first time a 90-point level has been achieved.
In talking about Da Nang’s three consecutive years in top place, Mr. Phung Tan Viet, Deputy Chairman of the Da Nang’s Provincial People’s Committee, said that in order to develop, besides economic reform, administration reform also needs to be a top priority.
The Ministry of Transport was once again ranked in first place among Ministries, with a rating of 81.83, followed by the Ministry of Finance (81.54), the State Bank of Vietnam (80.48), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (80). No Ministry rated less than 70. The Ministry of Science and Technology was last on the table, just behind the Ministry of Education and Training.
Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, said that the results show that the gap between provinces and between ministries has been narrowed, with the administration and management indicator being the highest of all indicators. “There are drastic moves being made by leaders of ministries and provinces, accepting their leadership responsibility and directing administrative reform,” he was quoted as saying.
The PAR Index has a positive impact on local leaders, helping them identify matters objectively and accurately, to see what is good and what needs solutions, according to Mr. Le Hong Son, Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
